A Great Day On Maui

March 20, 2008

I was just looking at my desk and realized how great today is (seriously, check out the perfect leeward Maui weather report) . I spent most of today doing keyword research for a few other sites I’m currently working on and the rest planning where to go next to get pictures. I think I may end up in Hana, or maybe Honolua Bay to watch the Maui Surfers. I gotta tell you, nothing beats living on Maui... (brag, brag, brag… :) )

Note: Eating healthy can kill you. ;)

Maui Desk

I want to visit St. Kitts, West Indies The pics there remind me of Maui a bit.  Here’s a cool Maui Sky photo blog, and another Daily Wailea Photo blog (from the same guy I think! I love the pics.)

We have a bunch of theaters here on Maui. Keep in mind though, Maui Mall is by far the nicest and is easiest on your back! (Great seats!)

For Maui movie listings be sure to check out Maui Cheetah

Kukui Mall Theater

Kukui Mall is an older theater but is located conveniently in Kihei (for south side movie goers.) Decent popcorn, painful seats!

Maui Mall Megaplex

Maui Mall Megaplex

Maui Mall Megaplex is located at the Maui Mall in Kahului. It is our largest and most comfortable theater here on Maui and has great popcorn!

Ka’ahumanu Center Theater

Ka’ahumanu Theater is located at Ka’ahumanu Center in Kahului. This is an older theater but they usually have the movies that Maui Mall Megaplex does not. As for the popcorn? Bring your own…

Oh, and prepare to spend $9 per ticket, $4 per soda, and $6 per bag of popcorn. :)

Vacant Land in Kihei

March 18, 2008

Kihei is one of the fastest growing cities in the entire United States.  It is amazing that there is any vacant land at all!

Even land tucked away behind commercial areas have stunning views, amazing locations and may be the reason for their multi million dollar price tags.

This is nothing more than a panoramic view of an empty lot situated just off of South Kihei Road in Kihei, Maui, Hawaii.  I have no idea if it is for sale or anything like that, but I just liked the shot.

So you’re coming to Maui and you need a car? Oddly, I have had a lot of folks ask me for Maui Enterprise’s phone number. I guess it is just because this is a Maui based website, but it is strange none the less. So here you go, here is the solution for all of your Maui Enterprise car rental questions!

There are several other companies out here though (were not that backasswards you know :) ) Check out some of the deals these other companies offer, every now and then you can find an absolute steal! No one wants to spend a fortune on a car while they are on vacation!

Some things you may want to note:

Kahului, Maui, Hawaii Airport code: OGG

So what are you waiting for, get to Maui, get your car and have fun!

Twin Falls Big Waterfall Jumpers

Maui Panoramas

March 17, 2008

So I was playing around with Photoshop and my camera and decided to create some panoramic images from all over Maui. Given that I’m a novice it is rare for me to take say 10 consecutive “focused” images back to back. So you may notice some blurry spots! Anyway, they were fun to create. I got to go to the windmills on the West Maui Mountains, to Twin Falls, Kihei and even to Maui Mall (man, I’m no good at night shots!)

Anyway, here is what I ended up with! (click to see the full version of any image!)

Maui Mall: Panorama

Maui Mall: Panorama

Joe Mattson - Big Beach: Ok, this one is strange. I told Photoshop to just merge all of these images and this is what it came up with. It doesn’t make sense, but I thought it looked cool!

Lahaina Pali: Panorama (shot just below the windmills!)

Twin Falls: Panorama (Yep, there are a few blurry sections!)

Kihei Regency: Panorama (took about 12 pictures to make this shot. Photoshop did a great job with the sidewalk! :D)

Hale Kanani

March 14, 2008

Hale Kanani is located in Kihei, Hawaii on the island of Maui right across from Cove Park. The property is stunning! it is a relatively new property meaning it is in great shape, and they really keep the exterior looking great. Hale Kanani has a great feel to it too. There is a very friendly feeling of “aloha” when you’re there.

Hale Kanani

This is a picture from South Kihei Road of Hale Kanani. You can tell that this place is taken care of by how clean and trimmed everything is. And this is the “not so pretty side!”

Here is another shot, very similar but just a tad cleaner.

Hawaiian Flowers

March 14, 2008

There are tons of beautiful plants in Hawaii. Maui is home of some of the most beautiful flowers! Here’s a bunch of photos of some beautiful Hawaiian plants.

Prince of Darkness

Maui mango tree

Maui Tomatoes

Orange Hawaiian flower

Pink Bougenvillea on Hawaii

Triange Palm Tree

Hawaiian banana tree

Hawaiian cactus

Hawaiian Fern

Hawaiian Pink Plumeria

Hawaiian Rosemary

Hawaiian White Oleander

 Hibiscus and Bougenvillea

Macro Purple Flower

Red Hawaiian Flower

That’s it. Nothing too fancy, just a quick look at some of Hawaii’s foliage.

Worldmark is located across from Kam 2 in the city of Kihei, Maui, Hawaii.  It is located very closely to an ABC Store (very convenient!) and is easy to find.

It is very well maintained and has a professional, serious yet “tropical” feel to it.

World Mark

As with the rest of the places noted here on this site, I don’t care about price or anything like that.  I’m just looking at these properties as a local here on Maui.  Worldmark Kihei is a nice looking place.  (Though I am a little biased with this because I lost my phone a while back and these guys fount it.  Talk about saving me from the dreaded loss of an unbacked up phone book!)  The staff is great too, they are very friendly and helpful at Worldmark.

Kamaole Beach Club

March 14, 2008

Kamaole Beach Club is located on the south side of Maui in the city of Kihei, Hawaii. It is very well maintained and has a very “tropical” feel to it. It is right across the street from one of Maui’s most stunning beaches and is right next to an ABC Store (very convenient if you need something fast!)

Kamaole Beach Club

Kamaole Beach Club doesn’t have too many recent pictures available so these are the most “real” pictures of the property available. It’s a nice place, at least from a locals point of view.

Kamaole Beach Royale

March 14, 2008

Kamaole Beach Royale is located in Kihei, Hawaii on the island of Maui. It is an older building, but it is very convenient to everything you may need in Kihei.

Kamaole Beach Royale

For an older complex they do seem to keep the exterior very clean. Kamaole Beach Royale is across the street from a stunning beach too.

Kamaole Beach Royale Kihei Maui

This is a picture of the back of the complex. I guess it is kind of a “giant block” of a hotel. Kamaole Beach Royale doesn’t really have the “tropical” Maui feel to it. Lacking visual aloha!

Kamaole Beach Royale Kihei

This last shot is of the front of the Kamaole Beach Royale. I love the designs on the front of the building, and also the fact that the lanai can be completely enclosed (notice the shutters.) This would be really nice to block the evening heat (at least until sunset, which these guys have an amazing view of.)
